Fall Prevention Awareness Week 2025 Recap

Home Care Partners – Safe at Home and the DC Department of Aging and Community Living offered four events for Falls Prevention Awareness Week in partnership with Trinity Washington University, The George Washington University, the University of the District of Columbia, Howard University, and many other local groups and agencies.

Over 730 participants received screenings for balance, strength, vision, blood pressure, and medication. Educational sessions focused on home safety, environmental modifications, fall recovery, and exercise.  AARP DC distributed free Files of Life to support emergency preparedness and healthy snacks.  Everyone received a giveaway bag with useful items from our sponsors such as Get A Grip, GoGo Access, & HandyPro to take home with them.  Over 30 raffle winners have also collected their winnings from sponsors such as Urban Poling, ResQUp, Whole Foods, Logan Hardware, Tonic & many more!

Please be sure to join us for next year’s Falls Prevention Awareness Week and check back for more Safe at Home events in 2026!  Consider signing up for one of our free, virtual classes to decrease risk of falls!
